Description
Most guinea pig treats are yoghurt drops or seed sticks — high in sugar, high in fat, and exactly what a guinea pig should not eat. Hey!Berries are built the other way round: pesticide-free western timothy hay, pressed into a round treat sized to be picked up in two paws and gnawed.
High fibre, low calcium, low fat, fortified with vitamin C. Lafeber describe them as nutritionally complete treats — you are not trading nutrition for enthusiasm.

How many to give
6 to 12 Hey!Berries a day for a mature guinea pig, alongside unlimited grass hay, fresh water and fresh vegetables.
For guinea pigs over six months old. Not intended for growing, active, pregnant or nursing guinea pigs.
Why the shape matters
A guinea pig's teeth grow for its whole life and only wear down through chewing. A treat that dissolves in the mouth does nothing for them; a treat that has to be worked at does. The round shape is there so the animal can grip it and get purchase — which is also why they are good hidden around a cage or tucked into a tunnel rather than handed over.

Questions we get asked
Why is low calcium a selling point?
Guinea pigs are prone to bladder stones, and excess dietary calcium contributes. A treat capped at 0.75% is a sensible one to give daily.
Can rabbits eat them?
Lafeber make rabbit versions. Rabbits do not need added vitamin C, so buy the right one for the species.
My guinea pig is under six months.
Wait. A young guinea pig has different needs and should be on a growth diet with alfalfa, not a mature-animal treat.
Do they smell nice?
The bell pepper and cilantro one genuinely smells of cilantro. The apple and banana one smells like a sweet shop. Your guinea pig will have an opinion.
