Morning Bird Cage Clean Enzyme Cleaner 22 fl oz

Dried bird droppings set like cement. Scrubbing them off cage bars with washing-up liquid is a long, bad-tempered job, and most household cleaners are not something you want anywhere near a bird's respiratory system.

Cage Clean is an enzyme cleaner. The enzymes break down the organic matter so the mess lifts rather than being scraped. It is non-toxic and bird-safe, so the bird does not have to be moved out of the room while you work.

How to use it

1. Shake well.
2. Set the nozzle to stream or spray, and apply to the soiled area.
3. Wait up to a minute for the enzymes to work.
4. Wipe with a paper towel. No rinsing needed.

Works on metal, plastic, concrete and painted surfaces — cage bars, trays, grates, perches, the wall behind the cage, and the floor around it.

What it is and what it is not

It is a cleaner, not a disinfectant. Enzymes remove droppings, stains and smells; they do not sterilise. If you need to disinfect a cage — after an illness, or before a new bird moves in — that is a separate job with a product made for it, and your avian vet is the right person to ask which one.

Ingredients: distilled water, active enzymes, surfactant and a bird-safe fragrance. Pesticide-free, with a mild mint scent.

Why bird-safe cleaning matters more than you would think

Birds have a respiratory system far more efficient — and far more exposed — than ours. Fumes that give a person a mild headache can kill a parrot. Bleach, ammonia, aerosol air fresheners and overheated non-stick pans all belong in the category of things not to use in a room with a bird in it. A cleaner you can spray in front of the bird is worth the price on that basis alone.

Do I need to move the bird out?
Morning Bird's position is no — it is formulated to be used around birds, dogs, cats, rodents and reptiles. Common sense still applies: spray at the surface, not into the air, and open a window if you are doing the whole cage.

Will it get old dried droppings off?
That is what the wait is for. Let it sit the full minute on anything caked; repeat on the worst of it.

Does it need rinsing?
No.

Can I use it on the wooden perches?
On natural wood, use it sparingly and let it dry fully. Wood absorbs, and a damp perch is worse than a dirty one.
