Description
The problem with a seed-and-pellet mix is obvious the moment you own one: the bird eats the sunflower and the fruit, and the pellets sit in the bowl until you throw them out.
Harmony's answer is to have no loose seed or grain at all. The dried fruit, nuts and vegetables are in there — papaya, pineapple, raisins, cashews, almonds, walnuts, carrots, peas, coconut, bananas, apples — but alongside Higgins' extruded inTune nuggets rather than as a seed base. Food and treat in one bag, and nothing left behind.

Ingredients
Parrot: ground corn, brown rice, soybean meal, ground wheat, oat meal, pineapple, sugar, papaya, almonds, bananas, canola oil, flaked beans, dicalcium phosphate, apricots, coconut, hazelnuts, carrots, green peas, pistachios, red peppers, pecans, apples, dried egg product, flaxseed, sunflower oil, flaxseed oil, calcium carbonate, alfalfa nutrient concentrate, salt, cranberries, blueberries, celery, beets, parsley, lettuce, spinach, watercress, brewer's dried yeast, and the standard Higgins vitamin, chelated mineral and probiotic pack.
The Conure & Cockatiel version follows the same pattern with cashews, walnuts, raisins and flaked peas in place of the larger nuts.
No artificial colours, flavours or preservatives — colour from annatto, turmeric and beet juice.
How to feed it
Higgins' direction: fed free choice as a complete and balanced food. Birds can eat up to 20% of their body weight a day, so keep the bowl properly stocked and fresh. "If wetted, be sure to remove uneaten foods daily, especially when it becomes dry and hard." Fresh drinking water always.
Questions we get asked
Harmony or plain inTune?
Harmony if your bird picks at plain nuggets or you want the treats built in. Plain inTune if you want the tightest nutrition — the fruit and nuts here do bring the protein down from 15% to 12.5%.
Is it really seedless?
There is no loose seed or grain in the bag. The grains are inside the extruded nugget, where the bird cannot separate them out.
Do I still need to give treats?
Higgins' pitch is that you do not — the treat is in the bag. Keep anything extra small.
My bird eats the fruit first.
Naturally. The difference from a seed mix is that what is left is a complete food rather than a bowl of husks.
