Description
This is Lafeber's plain pellet: no fruit, no berries, no shapes to work at. Just a nutritionally complete daily food, naturally flavoured with cane molasses rather than added sugars, and sized so each species can crumble it comfortably.
If you want the simplest possible answer to "what should my bird eat every day", this is it. Measure, feed, add vegetables, repeat.

Ingredients
Ground corn, soybean meal, wheat flour, cane molasses, hulled oats, dried whole egg, canola oil, dicalcium phosphate, ground limestone, L-lysine, iodised salt, citric acid, DL-methionine, choline chloride, and a full stabilised vitamin and chelated mineral pack (A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9, B12, C, D3, E, beta-carotene, copper methionine chelate, manganous oxide, zinc oxide, biotin, sodium selenite), preserved with tocopherols.
The same list across all four, with minor differences in order. Ground non-GMO corn and soybean meal; dried whole egg as the protein source; no artificial colours or dyes. Lafeber state the formula is tested for quality at an independent laboratory.
How much to feed
Lafeber do not publish per-day amounts for this line — only for the Tropical Fruit pellets. We would rather say so than make a number up. As a starting point, the Tropical Fruit figures are a reasonable guide for the same species (a budgie around 1½ teaspoons a day, a cockatiel around 3, an Amazon or grey 3 to 3½ tablespoons), but weigh your bird weekly on a gram scale and let that decide. Keep pellets available in a clean dish, with fresh water always, and fresh vegetables and some fruit at around 20% of the total diet.
Premium Daily or Tropical Fruit?
Nutritionally they are close. Tropical Fruit carries real dried fruit and is the easier sell to a bird that turns its beak up at plain food. Premium Daily is leaner on flavour and, in the larger sizes, better value per pound. Birds already eating pellets happily do fine on this one.
Questions we get asked
Is cane molasses a problem?
It is there as a natural flavour in a small proportion, and it is why birds accept the pellet. Lafeber use it rather than artificial flavouring.
My bird won't eat pellets at all.
Do not start here. Lafeber's Pellet-Berries are 81% pellet in a berry shape and are much the easier first step; Avi-Cakes are another. Come back to a plain pellet once the bird accepts pellet-based food.
How long does a 5 lb tub last?
Around three months for a single African grey fed alongside fresh vegetables. Keep it sealed and cool; pellets go stale and birds notice before owners do.
Can I feed the parrot pellet to my cockatiel?
The pellet is physically too large for comfort. Stay with the size made for the species.
