Description
Two treat mixes, and we want to be clear about what they are: these are treats, not diets. Both run high in fat, and both are meant to be fed by the tablespoon alongside a proper daily food rather than poured into the bowl.

How much
Volkman publish only "feed free choice" across their range, which is not useful guidance for a treat. Our own position, and the one most avian vets will give you: treats of every kind together should stay a small fraction of the daily diet — think a tablespoon or two for a large parrot, considerably less for a cockatiel, and less again on a day the bird has had other treats.
Where these earn their keep is not in the bowl. Scatter them through a foraging toy, use them as the reward for stepping up or going into a carrier, or use them to win over a nervous or newly rehomed bird. A treat that is always available stops being a reward.
Ingredients
Fruit & Nut Goodies: dried papaya, dried banana, mixed feed nuts, shelled peanuts, hulled pumpkin seed, sun-cured apple, dried coconut, dehydrated kiwi, pitted dates, sun-cured apricot, nectarine, pineapple, raisins, cranberries and peaches, sugar, coconut oil, sunflower oil, citric acid, sodium metabisulfite, artificial kiwi flavour, FD&C Red No. 40, Blue No. 1, Yellow No. 5 and No. 6.
Parrot Treat: safflower base with nuts, banana, papaya, apple, dates, kiwi and sun-cured fruits, with the same colour and preservative system. No vitamin pellet — it is a treat, not a fortified food.
Both contain FD&C colouring. If you would rather not, Volkman's Soak & Simmer and Gourmet Eggfood have none, and we stock both.
Questions we get asked
Can I feed this as the main food?
No. At 17%+ fat and under 11% protein, fed as a diet these would make a bird fat and short of what it actually needs.
My bird only wants the nuts.
Naturally. That is what makes it a treat and why the portion matters.
Are the dried fruits sulphited?
Yes — sodium metabisulfite is listed as a preservative, which is normal for dried fruit.
