A boing is a coiled rope perch that hangs from the top of the cage. It flexes and bounces under a bird's weight, which does two useful things: it gives the feet a constantly changing grip angle, and it turns standing still into low-level exercise.
Ask around any parrot forum which single accessory gets the most use, and the boing comes up again and again.

Common questions
Do I need to trim it? The coil can be stretched or compressed to fit your cage height — hang it so the bottom sits clear of the floor grate.
Is rope safe? Natural fibre rope is standard in aviculture, but any rope perch needs checking. Once it starts fraying into long loose strands, trim them or replace the perch — loose threads are a genuine snag risk for toes.
How often should I check it? Once a week takes ten seconds. Look for frayed strands and trim them flush.
Will my bird chew it apart? Some do. That is normal wear; a boing is a consumable, not a permanent fixture.
Where to hang it
High in the cage, where birds naturally want to roost. Most birds adopt it as their main sleeping perch within a week or two.
