Dyed or natural — does it matter? Not for safety; the dyes are food grade. Choose natural if you simply prefer undyed fibre. Some birds show more interest in colour, others don't notice.

Best toy for a first-timer? Yes — the loose petals make the first pull obvious, which is the hardest step with a bird that has never shredded.
