Description
Hanging toys take up the middle of a cage, which is the part a bird wants to fly and land in. Activity walls solve that by mounting flat against the side, turning dead vertical space into something to climb, shred and forage through.
There is a second benefit people notice afterwards: a panel on one side of the cage gives the bird somewhere to be out of sight. A cage in the middle of a room is exposed on all four sides, and a nervous bird settles considerably once it can get behind something.

Where to put one
Mount it where the bird already spends time rather than where the cage has room. Most birds have a favourite corner, usually high and toward the back of the room, and a panel next to that spot gets used from day one. One on the side the bird finds most exposed — facing the door, or the window — is the one that gets treated as a screen.
Leave the flight path across the middle of the cage clear.
Making them last
Seagrass and bamboo are meant to be destroyed, which is the point, but you can stretch them:
- Restock rather than replace. Weave fresh palm strips, paper or bagels through the mat as the bird works through the originals.
- Hide food in the weave. A pellet pushed into seagrass gives the bird a reason to work at a patch it had ignored.
- Rotate. Super Bird Creations advise four to six toys on the go and a weekly swap.
Safety
Fasten with quick links or pear links only — never split rings, spring clips or shower rings. Supervise a new toy the first time, and take a panel down once it has been chewed back to the hardware.
