Description
A cage full of rigid dowel perches gives a bird's feet nothing to do. A bungee moves — it bounces, it flexes, it makes the bird balance and grip. Watch a parrot discover one and you will see it bounce deliberately, over and over, because it is fun.
Super Bird Creations wrap 100% cotton rope around a bendable internal wire, so you can shape a bungee into a loop, an arch, a spiral or a straight run across the cage, and reshape it whenever you like.

Fitting a bungee
Super Bird Creations are specific about hardware, and it is worth following: use quick links or pear links. Their published instruction is blunt — "Do not use split key rings, spring loaded clips or metal shower rings to fasten your toys." Those three are the classic causes of a trapped toe or beak.
Tie a bungee so it sits where the bird already likes to be, and leave enough tension that it springs rather than sags. Most birds ignore a new perch for a day or two and then adopt it.
Rope safety — read this once and remember it
Rope perches and swings are excellent until they fray, and then they are a genuine hazard: loose strands wrap around toes and cut off circulation, and a bird can lose a toe overnight. Super Bird Creations put it plainly: "Bird owners have a responsibility to check their bird's rope toys daily and to cut back or discard rope toys when they become frayed."
Check it when you change the water. Trim loose strands with scissors. Replace it when trimming stops being enough. It is a two-second habit that prevents the single most common rope injury.
Who makes them
Super Bird Creations was founded in 1992 by Deb White and is still based in Colorado, with more than 40 staff shipping over 400,000 toys a year. Their tagline is "Parrot Playthings with a Purpose", and the range is built around three things a parrot actually needs to do: chew, forage and preen. Toys are assembled in the USA with bird-safe materials, food-grade colorants and vegetable-tanned leather.
Why any of this matters
A wild parrot spends roughly 70% of its day looking for food. In a cage that work disappears, and the time it frees up is where screaming, feather plucking and aggression come from. Super Bird Creations' own guidance is to keep four to six toys available and rotate them weekly — an old toy that comes back after a fortnight away is a new toy again.
