Description
A wild parrot spends about 70% of its waking day looking for food. Yours finds a full bowl every morning and is done in ten minutes. That leaves roughly eight hours of nothing — and that gap is where screaming, chewing the furniture and, at worst, feather plucking come from.
Foraging toys give the work back. You hide the food; the bird has to find it. It is the closest thing to a universal fix for a bored parrot, and it costs less than a bag of pellets.

Starting a bird that has never foraged
The commonest mistake is making it too hard on day one. A bird that cannot solve a toy will ignore it and you will conclude foraging "doesn't work for my bird".
- Start visible and easy. Put the treat on top of the toy, not inside it. Let the bird take it for free a few times.
- Then barely hide it. A single piece of paper over the top. One cork loosely in place.
- Then properly. Once the bird understands that this object contains food, you can make it as difficult as you like.
- Let it watch you load it. Birds learn far faster from seeing you handle food than from finding it by accident.
Use the food the bird already eats. Foraging toys are not a reason to add treats to the diet — the best version is moving part of the daily ration out of the bowl and into the toy.
Safety
Fasten with quick links or pear links only — never split rings, spring clips or shower rings. Supervise a new toy the first time. Check anything shreddable regularly and replace it when the bird has finished with it.

Their own advice, which we would repeat: keep four to six toys in the cage and rotate them weekly. A toy that disappears for a fortnight comes back interesting.
